I'm absolutely sure that asking for signage will be the beggining of the end, but if the majority of kiters want signs, I won't fight them.

I shouldn't laugh....hehehe
Unsustainable growth of kitesurfing on our public beaches is crazy.
Foolishly attempting to mutate a cool niche sport like kiting,
into something resembling flies sitting on a turd.....is crazy.
A sport that really should remain totally obscure for reasons of pure survival,
is now under threat of being force-fed into popular suburban culture and eventual extinction.
[Cause of Death....SUPER-SIZED to hell.]
Overhype-ing by the shopkeepers and overtraining by the gurus will kill the beast.
While the bow-kiter school zoo shame-walks up the beach at snail pace,
all in single-file and kites raised @ 12 o'clock high,
the professional newbie signs up for the instructors course after clocking-up the mandadory 6 months experience.
(about 25 kite sessions).
The kitesurfing machine cranks away at full steam ahead.
Newbies are coming off the production-line like cookies out of the cutter.
Public beach-goers are running for cover.
The faster you fatten the pig,
The sooner it goes to market.
lol
Enjoy.

im hoping to get into the sport soon.
since young ive always wanted to wakeboard
but that means relying on someone else to tow me.
kitesurf seems like the better alt,
seems alot better actually.
ive only seen kitesurfing on tv twice in about
4 years, so i dont know what hype your talking about.
i dont think theres as much hype as you make out
and it wasnt the stores that made me want to give it a go,
i'd never seen a kiteboarding store before.
i didnt even know kitepower existed until
i came online to look for a trainer kite
and id rather get into the sport from a specialized store that
would be willing to help me out
rather than simply buying a kite from the trading post
and heading out there without any knowledge of the sport
everything grows
half my mates went and bought motorbikes after
seeing how much i enjoy going for a ride on a nice day
its just the way things are mate
i see what your saying and understand where your comming from
but new people like me are always going to be comming into the
sport.
anyway sorry about going off topic

The council will not ban kiting if we only kill and mame ourselves, rock fishing is the most dangerous sport in this country by far.
So kiters just have to remove the risk of hurting the public.
But no signs are required, Signs ugly and somewhat uncool
But a nice big wind sock with a plaque mounted on the pole. The pole could also have a wind meter and some met gear so kiters can see the actual wind speed. Also the history of kite surfing in the area. The plaque could have the local rules and say someting like " donated to people of Dolls Point by the BBKC " . And the windsock could be sponsored by a local kite company or perhaps a kite manufacturer.
Local rules like.
1) know your gear and your limitations
2) dont jump close to shore
3) launch and land to the sea
4) wear a leash
5) offenders will be severly beaten around the head and body, with their own bar and line set.
So all we need to work out is how to enforce the rules.
Surfers ruthlessly verbally abuse, and sometime bash , others until the follow the rules, and it does work. Sailors will ram other boats if they dont give way to starboard, and that works too.
So the real question is how are kiters going to enforce the rules?
But I can see physical violence working, I mean who would be intimidated by some guy with board shorts over his wetty
