Saturdays arvo's mambo style session in light winds saw one of the biggest longest boosts (twice)ever witnesed at the point in Gero I did not time it but it raises the level for all who witnessed it. Great kite control unreal to see good on you mate.A light wind weekend, but it went of well. Congratulations to all involved in the weekend

Yep,
A big thankyou goes out to Ian Young who came up and assisted with the setting out of the priority buoy's and advising on the event. His knowlege of events is greatly appreciated.

I was also surprised that he didn't feature in the winners list as his light wind foils certainly made him a clear winner in his heats!.

All results will be released by WAKSA and rankings for the Nationals.

Thanks all to the competitors who were excellent ambassadors for the sport over the weekend. Enquiries from local kids for lessons will flow on from all the "cool" comments made by them. There were also a lot of local businesses involved behind the scenes that usually don't have anything to do with watersports. Geraldton is now well and truly a kite friendly community.

I reckon a big thankyou to Gavin Hirchausen would also be appropriate, he put in an effort that would have killed ten ordinary men, and did it all with one hand tied behind his back (effectively).

Great call GreenPat!

Gav.... Top job mate... shame about the wind, but what can you do about that!? It was pretty clear that if it had've been on, everything would have gone real smooth, so it's a huge credit to you and everyone else involved.

Can't wait for the nationals in January!

I was going out on a 9mter when Damo (on a 14) boosted. he hung so long with this back and forth flying of that kite that he was having conversations with the guys below him. Incredible! literally raised the bar... Extra thanks to Gavin and the city of Geraldton! If you missed it don't miss what Gavin does with the nationals in Jan.

JG

Big thank you from me too!
To Gavin of course and also all the people behind him: JB, Paul, Don, Mal, Tim, Heike, and the other couple of organisers who's faces I recall but didn't catch their names. The sponsors were all super generous, it's great to have their support and the help of the cadet kids. The guys will only be capable of a top job at the Nationals considering how well they kept the weekend flowing despite the unfriendly wind. Thanks again,
Jess

Not one awesome boost but 4, longest one was a slow 15 second count 10mtrs off the beach. I thought he was a kite at fist, because of the amount of kiters around him, until he sent his 14mtr gaastra in a loop on his second boost. I have bits of the footage, with me loosing it in the back ground. A definate world record hang time.
Thanks heaps for a great weekend and your very funny story Gav. good work. Damo, dale, Jake and Jess you guys brought the house down!

didnt quite see it but from wot i heard it was close to a record. well done dale on the win and thanks too gav. no luck on the wind but organised very well. one thing i see wrong with the lay out of 3 man heats is only having one man go through. not exactly the fairest of layouts. one suggestion 20 min heats[ instead of 15mins] and 4 man 2 go through. double elim. get through more heats as less time wasted between heats if u understand. also jake was ripping if u were there u would have seen the smoothest back mobe of the little kicker wave in the judging box definately best trick all weekend.

Sounds like it would be worth seeing.
Anyone care to write up & post a summary of the weekends antics, results etc etc ??
I am sure all us who were unable to make it would be keen to know what they missed out on.
Anyone ????

Got the jump on film boys I'll copy it and give it to ya Damo. 13seconds of hang time on my timeline not including the initial jump when you left the water, an easy 2 seconds of footage is missing.
