only when your standing knee deep in water and a pair of eyes pop up in front of you! plenty of wind then, Ive been to Darwin and seen those crocs, noooooo way would you get me in the water up there.

I can body drag fine but I'd take my chances with a board leash if I was kiting in Darwin...

Yeah I have to go there for work, for two weeks. I havent had my kite for the last 2 months and im finally getting the parts in the mail tomorrow (i hope) so this weekend im up to darwin. I will take the kite, im very very desprete to get out.
SA has white pointers, and cold water. NT has tiger sharks, crocs and stingers and warm water I think it cancels each other out.

how many stingers are there this time of year? What / where do you get a stinger suit?

i grew up in darwin sailing nearly everyday and loved it
its an awesome place with great people! i was kiteing there for a year just before i left. i had to move to perth cos the wind just wasnt strong enough in darwin there is wind most days but it doesnt get very strong.
with the amout of time i spent swiming there while i was trying to learn on my 2000 wipika freeair i can vouch that the crocs are not a prob but the stingers are you have to wear long pants and long sleves and have some vinigar on the beach ready to go.
back when i was there there was a group of about 10 kiters in darwin and we all kited off the rapid creek carpark near where limbs used to be (but i think its called the arafura center now). i have heard that everybody kites out of the casurina surf lifesaving club and at lee point these days. another good spot was behind the sand bar in fannybay but the all time best spot was bare sand island about 4-5 hours sail out of darwin harbour.
its light winds but darwin more than makes up for it with great people and realy good times!!!!

dont worry scrotus i doubt you'll have time to kite when your up there cause you'll be working too much

no stingers in the dry... still the odd croc or two but more active in the wet. bring a 16m, and yep damo's right, bare sandy rocks...

Been here a week and managed to get out twice. both times was really crazy wind varied from 5kts to 25kts and was changing directions every 5 minutes!! From S to SE. A local windsurfer down there said its not nomrally like this - I was at fanny bay in SE winds.

Well thats why haha.

And its Fannie Bay, not Fanny as in Vagina Bay lol

haha have you guys even been there? Its really not that bad, I lived there my whole life up until a few months ago and had only ever seen one croc on the beach and it was only a little one. Most crocs live in the creeks and rivers, the only thing you really have to worry about is the jellyfish and they are only around in the wet season but a simple stinger suit does the trick... Oh and toppleover try Lee Point there are plently of kiters out there and even a few trawling the forums...
