Don't want to be too technical but "Death Spiral" is a Paragliding / Paramotoring maneuver like what you see after 3:06 on this video;

The actual incident that you see in the kite surfing video called "Death Loop" and it mostly happens when your left or right line get tangled around the safety release or around your harness hook (The only solution is a kite knife).

It happen to me once and I've almost seen the death angel's but hole.

Wow death looping kite the kite looks verry depowered. the single line safety on the t3 looks to have caught or tangled after released. The second kite wraped around him would have been a worry normally the quicker you can let go of your secondry safety the better kite normally falls to the watter and you have half a chance of recovering it with no damage and no injury to you. It definatly looks like one tougth kite most kites would have disintigrated with that much abuse.

The Death Spiral in the para video is at 2:39.

The move at 3:09 is called a SAT, which is much more spectacular but also a lot safer than a death spiral.

I guess the motor takes a lot of the uncertainty out of the death spiral.
