My 06 Warroo died today- not a big deal as I gave it a hard time and it held up pretty well. Is there a kite that is designed solely for wave riding- no jumping, boosts, freestyle or any of that other crap- nothing but sliding into big green mountains and getting out again. I heard that Cabrinha was onto something- is that the Revolver and why isn't it on the Cabrinha site?

Supra, most big brands have a kite that is more refined for wave-riding in 08....This started last year. Sure, they'll still boost a bit, but turning and speed is the go, check out the gear review section. Rebel, Hyper etc were wave kite based, last yr, this yeat its the revolver, rev, rebel, hyper 9, flexifoil one etc. etc. etc. Some are coming out with adjustable lines. IM humble O, Kites in the last 2-3 years went through a bit of a tech revolution and are all good, Brands are now favouring different features, eg. speed, low end grunt, turning etc.
If your gonna part with the best part of 2 grand, DEMO them from any kiteshop

Check out an Ozone light. The design concept is very much surf orientated. Well priced too. I saw someone out on an 11m in the weekend and it performed very well. They do jump well and seemed to have plenty of grunt, but they are designed as a light weight kite for the surf. Worth a try anyway.

Peter Lynn Venom2 would seem to suggest itself here, considering it's been used by Aaron Jarman to win the last 2 Aus waveriding comps.

I dont know what the best kites are - as per Daves comments, but I had my Vapor out in the surf on Saturday and it performed really well, any time I came unstuck was down to my own errors as its still a steep learning curve for me.

I noticed the kite would move backwards really quickly when doing a turn off the top of the wave which was awesome as once I needed power from the kite it was there. Actually that impressed me a lot, as the kite just dropped back without falling out of the sky ready to go again.

Kiting rocks loving this sport more and more...

Also what are good foot straps for surf? I have a toxic wave and find my feet falling out a lot, thinking LF luxury kit?
