G'day guys,

Anyone stayed at the Delicate Nobby camp ground near crescent head? How is Delicate Nobby beach for kitesurfing, I am planning christmas with the family to get a site at a cool spot away from the crowds. I know it is sad looking this far in advance but to get a camp site, let alone a good camper site you need to.

Any feedback would be awesome. Looking on google maps it looks like it would be awesome in a NE and SE.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks

I had a couple of kites on both beaches 2 years ago. NE was cross shore on the south beach and SE is cross onshore on the beach straight out the front of the Delicate Nobby park. Could easily take a bit more north and south in the wind direction. Apparently it gets "chockers" during the school hols, but everywhere does. Nice part of the world. Sure there would be some locals at Crescent or Kempsey but I did not see any. I found no real obstacles and a really straight forward beach location. Hope this assists.

Delicate Nobby and another location north called Racecourse are great places to stay. From what I hear, both are now controlled by State Recreation and it's a bit more official than it used to be. Ha, a bit like everywhere, eh. Amenities are cold water showers and pits in the ground for dunnies. Basic but ok. None of these beaches take any west but I hear South West rocks take NW. Take the surfboard, great area for waves.

You won't need to be considering westerlys if it's christmas, but yes South West Rocks is great for anything from the West. Racecourse and just south, Coolwah(often called delicate nobby) is national park, no bookings 1st in 1st serve, basic but very good camping, & right on the beach. The privately owned campground is a touch further south & on the other side of the road, expensive when you compare it to the others. I've looked in there but not stayed.
Beach is awesome, caters for a huge range of conditions, the mid headland is not too high to kill the wind. It's an easy wave & has good choice, big wave end & little wave end. It's pretty hot & my pick is Coolwah.
Cheers

Thanks,

Looks like we will be staying at the privately owned one as it has the amenities, water and power needed for the wife and kids. It is so much cheaper than most parks at this time of year. Although, you are right more expensive than the national park ones, but pits and cold water showers is a no go with a 2 and 4 year old not to mention a ?? year old wife I know it is on the other side of the road but how far is it from the beach? Looking on google earth it looks close but I don't know exactly which area the camp site is.

I am hanging for it and praying that my injured groin doesn't take the estimated 18 months to heal. Not kitesurfing and surfing is deadset killing me. Anyone ever partially torn their Adductor Longus tendon and have osteitis pubis show up on the MRI too? Don't wish it on anyone!!!! Anyone know any miracle cures i'll try anything.

Thanks guys

Close, from the office I'd say 200m to beach and then another 200m to the headland.
