Hi guys!

I will be traveling from the US to Sydney for work second half of October. I wanted to try and combine with a kite wave trip the week before or after.

I am looking for mid-size fairly clean waves with a decent wind probability. I believe October will not be good for Australia so I was hoping to get recommendations for other ? islands ? that are not too complicated to fly to knowing I will only have a week off...

I read Fiji will most likely be risky at that time of the year? New Caledonia is probably the best bet from my research but then I am not sure I can find decent wave quality?

please help! Any recommendations welcome!

thanks!

Think about nz. October is one of the best months for wind/swell Combo. But it will not be warm. 15-18 deg c.

Not sure why you think it won't be good, but October is springtime here and the start of the 'season'. We ususally get a couple of rideable days per week. If you rent a car and willing to drive from Sydney Im sure you'll score some ok conditions. If you're expecting to kite every day you'll probably be let down though.

Yes you are right. I did not consider it since it is the beginning of the season from what I read and I could be unlucky. But it may end up doing that in the end.

but NZ sounds great :)! I will seriously look into that!

Any other recommendations?

If you are into an adventure and dont mind a 1000km drive from Perth, Gnaraloo has good waves and so much wind that time of year. It would be a destination that would stick in your memories for ever

October is the pretty much the best time of year in Sydney!!

Anyway, as someone said get to WA. Exmouth, Gnaraloo or Geraldton would have wind every day. Gnaraloo would be epic.

Well since you sound like you know a lot you may also know that finding reliable info online is not easy which is why I ask here because I know I can find good local info.

Sorry for daring to say that October may not be the best month. But glad to hear I am wrong.

thanks for everyone 's help!

Plummet, would you mind letting me know where to go in NZ (or anywhere between September and October)?
Got a month off, mid September to mid October and don't mind where I'm going as long as there is wind and a bit of a wave (cheap beer would be a bonus, too).
Thanks.
