Filthy dogs smashed our car window stole a bag of clothes destined for the Good sammys (Huey will really punish you for that)and Jens clothes. I had been working all day so mine were probably to smelly for em. Didnt take my spare bar (lucky) but got ten bucks from the ash tray. Had all our kites with us but luckily carried them down to the beach for the fear of something like this happening (F$%#@ing Leighton Take note). (this is the third window - 4th break in in total (Its only a F%$#@!&*% corrolla to)

These guys are not afraid they were all but 5 mtrs from the highway

Bad ending to an epic session one of the best this winter for me

Carl sorry to hear about your car , was about to put a post on the great sess I had there on Sat . **** like this does make it a real problem to kite there though .
Where were you parked ? I try and park north of the overpass so I can see the car at all times , so far so good .
Sounds like you had a much better kite on Sun than we did at Scarbs ( just hard work )
Its a real pity that these little F@#$*&rs are out there because I think leighton in winter has got some of the best and friendliest conditions .

I dont condone violence in any form
but we could lure them with a $50 on the dashboard and just patiently wait for the dogs to return and simply restrain them
and call the cops (maybe with the odd humiliating slap)but I understand we could get in more trouble than the thieving dogs themselves?

Besides the obvious inconveniance its the bloody glass everywhere and freezing your bollocks off on the way home with no clothes towell or window to close!!

Yeah heard that too but these ********ers cant go on getting away with it
Cops admit theres SFA they can do and even when they are lucky enough to catch one its treated like candy theft by the courts
Somethings gotta be done by someone

hey plow - your plan sounds outrageous !
But if you have a recipe for a system that works please post the details - been trying to design something for ages.
Expensive alarm systems obviously of little help.
With 4 car break-ins of my own plus a set of driving lights in the past 18 months - total stolen over $4000 - total repair bill over $2000 - I'm ready to take ANY steps to catch ; maim ; whatever the *****ers very seriously.
If you dont want to post them here please email me
(Trust a Vic to be that devious [}:)])

Sounds like some kind of communal sealed trailer that can be towed along on the back of someones car that can be locked up with a strong padlock that has a code that can be shared amongst kite dudes is in order here...

WHAT ABOUT A GANG CLAD WITH PILLOW CASES NAMED "K.A.K."
KITERS AGAINST KRIME.
WE CAN WAIT IN THE BUSHES WITH THE 50 DOLLAR LURE THEN OUT WITH BASEBALL BATS AND KITE BARS AND GIVE EM JUST ENOUGH OF A HIDING TO TELL THEIR FRIENDS AND SCARE THE BEJESUS OUT OF EM.
IF THEY CANT SEE OUR FACE THEY CANT IDENTIFY US.

Great idea jjd !
then we could set up in the dunes with shoties and blast the ****ers out of the sky as they sailed past for some clay-pigeon trap-shooting practice.
(added later) if it wasn't so serious you could (almost) laugh

this is an age old problem, when are we going to police this our selves. I'm not saying take the LAW into our own hands, I am saying prevention at our favorite spots is the key....

Obviously this pisses all of us off big time, I havent had it happen while kiting yet !, however I have had my sport car ****ed beyond belief and my 4WD almost to the same degree. [}:)]

so the question is to what to do within the boundry's of the LAW, not break them but kick them alittle.

A Simple idea is to bring someone along to sit in the car or carpark.
I will personally bring some homemade cake and coffee for anyone who wants to sit in my car for a few hours a few times a week. This would not only protect 1 car but all the other cars on either side. Maybe if every body brought a small something for the car park attendant. it wouldnt be that hard to persaude our partners to sit in the car on a cold windy day. While we do our thing.
Maybe if a handfull of crew who regularly sail at one spot communicate before they kite, they can take turns bringing someone along.

we have had a couple of encounters where local surfers have caught the guy in the act, but both times the theives looked like they were 25 to 35 year olds, super cocky and i figure must have been high as a kite. One guy was attempting to pull a longboard out the passenger side front window while the owner stood their watching in disbelief. Even if he got it out, it would have been wrecked. When approached, the druggo said "i just want the board man", like he had some right to it and didn't give a **** anyone was watching. In the end he just took off as everyone stood around shocked. I reckon you could have had someone sitting in the car looking after it and the dickheads would still break in. When it's young kids doing it, a scare will probably keep em away, but when its 30yo coke-heads who think they are invincible, it gets a bit tricky.

Perhaps a syringe, a spoon, a lighter and a bag of white powder (preferably anthrax) on the dash board might be a good distraction.
