Have a look @ the Seabreeze graph for today - Friday 9 March. Check the Sunshine Coast area, Double Island Point. At 3:54 there was a 57knot gust - Hope no one was kiting there today...
Whaddya mean crazy? I would been out there un-hooked on my strapless surfboard in a bikini singing like a banshee on my 20m North Rhino, LOOK OUT I AM GOD, mega kite.
DI Point is a headland and the weather measuring equipment is at an elevation of 96m above sea level so the gusts up there are often affected by the wind channeling up the cliffs etc. Not many people kite up there - it's a good 80km or so up the beach from Noosa by 4WD. Very nice spot though.
