Hi Marno,

The crew were Pinnas riders and one of my instructors. I think they left at around 1.30 or so and made it into Lano around 6.30 with a stop at Two Rocks.

Riders were Ed, Froggy, Charl, Abel and Matt from Airborne. From reports, they had a smooth and easy ride and were a little undercooked on 7's.

I'm sure Charl or Matt will be able to give you a first hand account.

Good winds,

Yeah i went... was a bit of a last minute decision but definately a worth while one!
Next time i might be a bit more prepared (eg camel pack, more food, better downwind board) and it would have been a blast if the swell was maybe a tad bigger.

But if you get the opportunity to do it don't miss out!

I was on a 10m era and the the others on 7m flows and a 7m bandit but at times they were a little underpowered..

It took 5 hours but that have easily been reduced if we had of gone a bit faster, but yeah was smooth sailing and a big thanks to charl for driving up there!!!!

yea i was the driver sick session at lanos though!!

ed and matt were riding Airush Hammers and they sounded like they were the go for downwinder boards.. so probably something that is very comfortable in chop and a bit bigger then normal boards.. and something that planes downwind smoothely.

Sorry but i think the race idea would be pretty boring as u would miss half the beach and reef banks as well as the few flat water spots as well!!

And yeah the airush hammer is definately the go.... it has the extra langth to avoid nose dives and is great fun in the waves, had the boys rippin on the 7m flows!

Yeh was good fun, would be better with 3m swell and some food! Note to self bring more water and bulk foood next time.

Yeh the Hammer 144 is the board for downwinders, so smooth, stops nosedives and is sweet in the surf, cant beat it.

And Ian the challenge is on, next time it's decent ill grab a GPS and give 4 hrs a crack,

Thanks
Matt
