Hey bigmark100
Just follow the freeway throught the tunnel and go straight ahead when you get near the airport you will see a sign that says Rockdale-Wollongong follow that, then if you keep going you will see a Novatel Hotel on your right and beach on left any of the carparks on the left after that you can park and go kiteing, if you follow that road all the way down you will see it turns hard right just before that you can via to the left then take the second on the left ( looks like a little st with houses but just do the zig zag and then your at Dolls ) it only 5min from Brighton to Dolls.

Depending how far up the NB's you are depicts your route. North of Narra. the Wakehurst park to Waringah rd to eastern valy way seams to be the go probly looking at an hour to hour and a half (can do it in less than 1.5 from mona vale with pick up of girlfriend down town). The traffic after 5 is a nightmare best bet is to try and get off work early the drive between 4 and 5 is a breeze. well sort of
north of Manly Waringah rd eastern valley way is a toss up with the spit Depends on the traffic in mosman

Sounds like it would be less effort for you guys to catch the ferry across to Umina and bus it to the Central Coast beaches! That or just leave a car at Umina and drive it. Way quicker.

Hey Mark
the traffic on the way down is ALWAYS a gamble. It can take 30mn on fluid days, up to 1h30 on bad days (just had one of those 3 days ago...:-( ). It's a bit like a chocolate box: you never know what you gonna get! ;-)
And it makes your sessions expensive too (7,50$ of damn tunnel + fuel! (BTW... I just don't get why the tunnel is 3$ one way and 4.50$ the other... WTF???)).
But seriously, it is still worth it.
It was awesome yesterday to see the core of the northern beaches kitesurfers turning up at Brighton!
It was hilarious, everybody was there!
Chris, Peter, Rob, Pete, Robin, Gav, Luke, yup, a good 10/15 of us turned up and it sort of felt like "Hey, NB rule!" (Chris, I like when you blow kisses at me on the water! :-) ).
Thanks to all the locals (Andrew, Dan, George, etc) for warmly welcoming us (that's how kitesurfing should always be!).
Yesterday was awesome, everybody had an absolute ball, and, no matter the time and money involved, I believe that when you truly love, you just don't count: the drive down is priceless!!! :-)
Hope to see you joining us next time!

easiest way is to sell your place on the northside and get a removalist van... :-)

Em - The 4.50 is for the "pleasure" of using the ED (northbound only though), the 3.00 is for the bridge or tunnel (southbound only)
Correct me if I'm wrong anyone...
Looks like it's worth every cent though looking at the charts again today and comparing North Head with the Airport.

I drive to Wanda after work once a week. I have found the following;
- after coming out of the eastern distributor tunnel section until you reach the Novotel
before 3.30pm you will experience only a small amount of traffic to
after 3.45 it will take 15-20 mins
after 4.15 it will take 20-35 mins
after 4.45 it will take 30 mins plus
after 5.15 traffic can be backed up to the start of the eastern distributor, you will end of frustrated for 45 mins plus so forget it.
Hope this helps,
J
