Had a session today in light wind with a lot of traffic. Please people if your downwind drop your bloody kite low and the upwind person can raise theirs to enable easier passing!

I feel your pain Nick.. The memories of Pinna's still linger fresh in my mind.

last week at melville i seemed to encounter the same guy and i would switch between going downwind of him and dropping the kite or upwaind and raising the kite . He was within 25m of my kite . After a while i have had enugh and yelled at him to keep his ****ing kite low if he was downwind . Eventually i went in and landed and he came in ask said what's your problem mate .

I simply stated if he was downwind of someone keep your kite low and upwind keep it high to which he replied **** off mate i was nowhere near you . So i said next time i'll just keep my kite low and wrap my lines around yours .


The ignorance of some people is amazing .

What I reckon the issue also might be is that there is not a whole lot of attention brought to this during lessons. I get common sense isn't always that common..

a statistical fact:
half the population is below average intelligence.

If you didn't eat so much at christmas it would be easier to stay upwind without people in your way

Dropping or raising your kite is more an indication of intent (prior to going past someone) than providing you with space to maneuver, unless you are cutting it too close anyway. Personally I'd prefer the noob to keep his kite where it is and hold his line, that way you know where he's likely to be when you pass him.

No I did actually. I went with SOS, always good However I had it several times that people don;t do it so it seems like a logical explanation that it doesn't get taught well enough.. probably because it is just common sense

Maybe also because lots of people teach themselves nowadays. But you're right it should be common sense..
