Anyone got one? Any comments?

I have trashed my wetty this season & its time to either fork out $ for a new one or suss out alternatives.

The Ocean Rodeo ones look good - anyone know who imports them & what sort of $$$?

Call me a softc*ck - but I would rather be able to ride for a few hours in a winter session than have to come in after an hour with hypothermia !

Check with companies involved in Mountain Kyaking (mainpeak in WA) they have gear for the nutters who go down the ice melt rivers.

Dunno bout the drysuits, remember a few guys used to wear them for sailing. Problem was they only keep you dryso they had to wear trakies and warm clothes underneath. Might be some variations. I personally prefer my radiator and full length 3mm wetty combo for the colder days

OK... you're a softc*ck, but only coz you asked for it.

But, seriously, wouldn't a decent 4x3 and booties be enough? Gloves too if need be. I'd have thought that a drysuit would be OK while you're riding but a nightmare if your kite was down. (Two mates drowned wearing wet-weather gear.) Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The 4x3 I bought a while back is really flexible and easy wearing, more so than my "old" 3x2 from yrs ago... but too damn hot for anything but the freezing cold, I've even gone out without the booties just to let some heat out.

And wetsuit gloves suck if you're trying to handle lines in the water, so bow kiters beware.

BTW I'm sure this has come up before on this forum.

don't pee in drysuits , or you get all moist around the ankles.

not to mention the steam when you finally open the zippers,

although if you hang kippers in alfoil around the armpits you'll be surprised at the results.

I've got the ocean rodeo dry suit... Got it from Kitesurf direct in melbourne a few years ago.. They work well but I always seem to get a bit of water up the ankles, just due to the spray that comes off your board being so forcefull. It's not a real problem though.. The seals have gone on mine now and need replacement, been to slack to order new ones.. Any rate if your a softy like me and want to get out and back off the water fast (very quick to pull over and off your clothes) then they rock.. No standing in the wind butt naked trying to dry off.. Can't remember the exact price but think it was around $700
