Something about the ski poles just makes it look......... 'out of place' i guess are the words for it. Can't wait to see someone getting a huge barrel at pipeline or similar on skiis, not that it really takes much skill to be towed in, but the wipeouts would be good to watch.

The real surprise for me is that people haven't started doing that earlier.
Just like with downhill skiing, skis are much more suitable than a board for this kind of high speed riding. The fact that your legs aren't tied together allows for better balance and more flexibility to throw your body into different positions. Edging in turns is more extreme as well.

But when making things easier, you also take away the challenge l I guess.
Although riding Jaws in any form undoubtedly poses a great challenge.

agreed . Is there any stuff out there on kiteing with waterskis (no not Cory roesler old 80's stuff) something more recent .I've seen Chucks stuff before and it seems more width in the tail is the key I' really like to give it a crack in the wves .The kite bar and lines negate the need for poles too for balance and doesn't look so strange .it seems the poles do make it more possible without a kite (some other footage I saw of guys without poles was all over the place and really wobbly) ,i like to use snow skakes (very short skis when snowkiting ) and i've done a fair bit in the resorts (no kite)with them .they are impossible for an old fart like me without poles but really good with poles (much easier to find the balance and the sweet spot) and handle all sorts of conditions except for elephant snot crud (yes even ice )
