I know here in PNG El Nino causes an extended dry/windy season with stronger than normal wind, So if you are planning a kite trip north to Queensland or Indo you are in luck. If you were heading to fiji too bad they will be experiencing less wind than normal.

will the el nino cause a delay to the start of the australian summer winds? What happened last year when there was a La Nina through December-March?

everything comes in a 7 year cycle
Windy years as far as i know have been '86 (americas cup) 92, 99, and predictably 2006.....so statistically and presumably its gonna blow its ass off this year.
