The latest issue of New Scientist (May 14 2008) has an article about using giant kites to generate power. The journalist discusses 3 research groups working on the technology around the globe, one of which is lead by Saul Griffith, a keen kitesurfer, based in California but originally from Sydney.

The article covers some interesting aspects of power generation, but warns not to expect the technology to be commercially viable in the short term.

Someone recently posted a topic about some of Sauls earlier kiteboards and other ideas, I thought people might want to know what he is working on for the future.

Regards
