Got nicely abused last night. Just chasing thoughts as to whether I was in the wrong, or just had a run-in with some dickhead who had a bad day or a previous bad experience with a kitesurfer/sailboarder.

Story is:

- parked car at 1st carpark Trigg
- walked gear up to Contacio so out of everyone's way (no-one surfing there) and launched from there
- wind was **** and kite too small so couldn't stay up wind
- yes, on my way downwind I ended up in an area where there where surfers
- no, I did not stay in that area on the same tack, so if I did get in the way at all, it only would have been for 5 seconds, and did not cut anyone off on any wave
- surf was cranking (haha - it was absolute crap!)
- landed kite at the Point and walked back to car
- met by angry guy and who launched in an abusive tirade about how kitesurfers are all the same, he thought windsurfers were bad, there is a heap of water so why don't I go kite off Rottnest, I should f*ck off, etc
- bigger than me so so apologised politely!

One of the reasons I got into kiting was surfing ****ty windwaves at Trigg, not having much of a good time, seeing a couple of guys coming through doing a downwinder and ripping. They were only in the vicinity for half a minute and did not lead to less enjoyment in the water for me at that time, or any other.

Thoughts?

Stay away from everyone thats not kitesurfing. Surfers, windsurfers and lid monkeys all hate us, and the pr departments have given us the thumbs down, notice how you get less inquiries from the general public on the beach ?
Doesnt help though if you keep jumping over the gromets when the winds up
