Interesting reading Raphaelle Salles owner of F-One Kiteboarding have a Patent Approved on the Delta design. North are already paying em for the rights to use it..Just about every brand is utilizing a delta design wonder how much legs the patent will carry and how far F-1 go to protecting the patent.

Yea it's a similar story to the Frenchman Bruno Legainoux, he was the inventor of the bow kite and owns a patent on the design. I know that on the 2009 Cabrinha Crossbows near the tip where the serial number is printed it states 'Patent owned by Bruno Legainoux'.

The Frenchman made heaps of coin out of this patent and is widely regarded as being the inventor of the original LEI kite.

Not sure where the Delta patent details are, but here is some info on the Bow kite patent if interested...

Bruno Legainoux, the inventor of the classic LEI, took the bridle on the leading edge concept further and filed a patent application in French on 2004/03/01, in Canada and in US on 2005/02/28 (Canadian Patent Application number CA 2498729, US patent application number 11/067,0842) for a kite design that incorporated a bridle on the leading edge with a flat, swept back profile and concave trailing edge. The US version of the patent application can be found at http://www.freepatentsonline.com/20050230556.pdf. The French version can be found at inflatablekite.com/siteinf/gb/docs/FR2866859%20bow.pdf

interesting I would have thought that the north rebel preceded the fone bandit as a delta shaped kite (it was 5 line though)

Under the definition 'delta' the Bandit was the first and the Rebel wasn't a delta shape.

IThis kite is essentially characterized in that it is configured so as to have a delta shape during the flight, and to this end its leading edge has, when laid flat, a curvature such that, for each half wing of the kite, the angle formed by the tangent to said central point with the tangent at a given point, when said given point moves from the forward central point to the end of the kite in the first third of said half wing of the kite, said angle is larger than 15[deg.].
