KITEBOARD PRO WORLD TOUR 2004
ALCATEL KITESURF PRO
MERIDIEN BEACH – NOUMEA – NEW CALEDONIA
1/7 NOVEMBER 2004

For immediate release

The Speed Crossing record beaten by Felix Pivec!!!

As you all were told, the Speed Crossing to the Phare Amédée held during the Alcatel Kitesurf Pro was won by Charles Deleau in 27’08’’.
However, Felix Pivec, as a special guest on this race, did beat the record with a 25’55’’ time.

Indeed, Felix created the surprise thanks to his good strategy : contrary to the whole pack of officially registered riders who chose the straight way to the beach of the Méridien, the australian rider from the Airush Team chose an other option : he started to go up wind, which is initially a longer way to reach the winning post, but, after a while, reached the coast and went down wind, avoiding the waves, while the other riders were losing time on their way….

As Felix wasn’t officially competing for the Alcatel Kitesurf Pro, his performance was not taken into account in the ranking, but we all congratulate him for beating the last 26’56’ record that the caledonian Gratien Douyère performed in the 2002’ edition of the Alcatel Kitesurf Pro !!!
