For the NQ crew this is to close to home IMO,
Well its on Friday 24.1.2014, Gather at Anzac Park Townsville , then a casual walk/protest down to Reef HQ. The aim is to persuade the GOV/GBRMPA against the Dredging/dumping of 3-4 million cubes of ****e onto the Great Barrier Reef. What a Joke. Surely. All welcome.

A single rain event puts more sediment in the ocean
There is no long term environmental impact from this activity
I should know as I read the 6000 pages of reports and wrote the permit
Rather than just knee jerking to some stultocratic propaganda

I also find "dredging/dumping .... onto the reef" a bit of a crock. I might be wrong but I thought the only place in Oz where there's reef right off the beach is Ningaloo? I mean I've been all up & down the aussie coast and I thought the only way to see anything decent of the Great Barrier Reef was to get out in a boat. Correct me if I'm wrong but most of the coast I've seen around Gladstone &/or Abbott Point isn't really worth writing home about, just muddy shoreline.

According to Dr Google Maps the nearest reef is about 40-50kms out to sea by my eye.
