Hi all,
I will fly over Fiji on my way back to Germany on 16th of October and thought about staying there for 2 weeks.
Has anyone of you been to the Yasawa Island in Fiji?
Are there good kitesurfing spots on some of those islands or is it better to go somewhere else in Fiji.
Looking for backpacker style holiday, can’t afford more
And does anyone made experience with www.awesomefiji.com
Would be great to get some reply's
cheers

Hi
Was in FIji on the Yasawa Islands in Jan 05 for 2 weeks, nice and quite atmosphere, heaps of good skin diving, but only 1 day with wind the 2 weeks I was there?! dont know how the wind is in oct!!!
Anyway the islands have very narrow beaches and plam trees right at water. There is a really nice area up on the northern islans with a "lagoon", and if you go outside the lagoon and into the ocean you find some waves aswell. Didnt get to try the spot my self. no wind :(
Accomodation was about 50 to 70 Fiji dollars a night i think.
I dont know how the rest of Fiji is and I would guess there are better placed to go if you only want to kite!!!
Hope this helps you abit.
Cheers

I was in the Yasawa islands a few years ago, and I'm definately not going back, I only got 2 bad days of wind in 2 weeks, the islands are really primitive, no frills or facilities, which is fine if you're not paying much. But for the same price there's a thousand better locations in this world, - I really enjoyed Vanuatu, good kiting potential, reasonable prices, and locals who are friendly without trying to milk you for every dollar you have! Look around at all the posts on this and other forums, and you might notice there's not much good being said about the place.
Hope it works for you, some people have got lucky there with the wind, let us know how it goes,
cheers
