G'day, Hoping someone might have some insight into kiting at Fingal bay over the October long weekend. Myself and the missus are beginners...I can just about transition and stay upwind but she is only learning to get on the board. Any pointers and tips on the area would be greatly appreciated ? or any suggestions on other near areas more suitable for beginners ? I also hear its a popular spot for sharks and you don't want to be body dragging for long ?!!! Thanks all...
Fingal can be good - but if the surf is big it can also be pretty difficult conditions. You're so close to many good spots, just drive along the coast and pick a spot you like.
I like Fingal but never got a good day, always a compromise.
Come to Old Bar! Theres a bunch of us going to be there camping at Lani's which is near the famous Mud Bishops lagoon. Some great flatwater to be had if thats your flavour. Its the old bar beach festival that weekend, and the RSL will be PUMPING
Agree with Brooksy, Fingal looks good on a map, fairly enclosed water, usually pretty flat. But big nearby hills shadow the wind, especially NE. Old Bar is pretty ideal for learning. Col
