Couldn't believe today - no wind forecast - maybe a few red arrows. Then around midday 15 to 20 NNE. Thought, its winter - this will only last 10 mins. Then come 3:30 its still 15 to 20. Then I remembered, that's what it does in the Northerly seabreezes, picks up about 5 to 10 knots in the afternoon more than the forecast. Left work at 4 raced home phoning everyone I knew with a kite - must all be out already.

Had a session on my own at Mudjimba - whole beach to myself until sunset.

Grinning again - bring on summer - anyone else get the northerly today?? Ony saw 2 kites out - one at the rivermouth and one up near Yaroomba.

yeah i couldn't believe it when i saw the arrows, but unfortunately i don't think it was a "proper" northerley caused by thermal heating of the land, more likely just a shift in the isobars. it was rather unexpected though?

I think it was a bit of both, as the land was quite hot today and the water was cold. Had an epic session from Stumers to Mudjimba around the headland. Wanted to do Peregian or Sunshine to Mudjimba but I couldnt motivate the troops enough. Wonder if we will get treated tomorrow too!? Seriously thought I broke my leg again on my board, I now have a massive bump on my already seriously f#$^d ankle... arghhh.

Glad you were up here for it SS. Maybe go to work early tomorrow in case it happens again... (ya never know!).

Hey Taxi I saw you with all ya kite gear as we were driving past. You were walking through the main street of Coolum. I couldnt get Nicks window electric window down to yell out to ya. What the heck were you doing there?

Looking at it now, I think it was a shift in the isobars. I'm sure there was also a knot or 2 of seabreeze helping it along. We've got a low pressure moving through now for the rest of the week then a standard pattern of a low pressure moving down south.

I think that was a small taster of things to come in a month or 2.

I knew it was going to kick in down south.
A big dew on the grass.................................................. and I had to work .
I find if it's not quite strong enough; just deflate your kite and go home and it's sure to kick in!
