Well, finally last saturday i got out in some decent wind too see if im actually capable of kiteboarding!

After getting show'd the do's and donts for the area i was kiting i got an assisted launch and started to head out to a clear down wind path!

The first few dives of the kite i just kind of pop'ed up and droped but then i dove the kite down again and boom, im up and moving! Once i gained abit of speed i started to edge up wind.... Then i thought to myself SHIIIT IM actually doing this WHOOOO HOOOOO i gave myself a cheer and proceeded to head up wind. I was enjoying every second of it! You cant beat the feeling omg it was unreal!

Then it was time to turn around! Well didnt that fumble me. For some reason i just couldnt seem to get going in the opposite direction. Because im so used to surfing and wakeboarding with my right foot back i struggled to get up.

So i decided it was a good chance to practice body dragging in the opposite direction with a small upwind angle. It was good bcuz i am confident now that i can drag up wind and retrive my board.

After doing several runs in my comfortable direction i got tired of body dragging and decided to give it another go.

I managed to get up and going the other way whooo hoo! couldnt beleive it. I then proceeded to ride toeside up the direction in which i didnt feel confident on.

All in all i had an absolute blast!!!! I now know why all u guys are so addicted! I cant wait for summer!!!!!

Id just like to thank gerry for looking out for me and giving me a few tips here and there! cheers mate

thanks damo, i will deffinatley keep on practicing. I think i was trying to cut upwind too early and this resulted in falling on my back. Hopefully next time i will be confident going that way!

well done your totally hooked now.
some of the best advice i was given a couple of years ago when i got up on a board was to straighten the front leg and to push my hips towards the bar and in the direction i was heading in.[thanks big col]
the tips you get from the guys you kite with are priceless make sure you pass yours on when you progress it helps us all .
cheers and have a ball this summer.

welcome to the addiction haa haa

Hello my name is Blownaway aaaaann I haven't had a kic kic a kite for 1 day now

word of warning.....don't get so caught up in the fun factor that you forget the safety
factor !! Thats what I did and payed for it big time.
It really is a disease an it will bite you when you least expect it.
Be prepared to lose friends...(non Kiters)
You will lose the ability to concentrate on the mundane things in life as soon as the trees start to rustle.

Dont worry though there are a lot of kite aholics here on this forum to help so in your own good time when you feel up to it...its ok to ask for help

Another one gets hooked. Dam!
Your world as you see it will never be the same. From now on you will notice the slightest movement of leaves in the trees, that romantic walk on the beach with your other half, forget it. While she`s telling you how much she (or he) loves you you`ll be watching the whit caps, swells and what type of clouds are coming in. She`ll be saying `Isn`t this beautiful? And all you`ll be thinking is `This doesn`t look like a bad spot to ride.` That tax rebate, you know where that`s going, new gear. No more TV. It`s kite vidios and youtube. And forget about trying to talk to your non kiteboarder buddies about what you do, you`ll only bore them. Just come on seabreeze we understand.
Welcome to the Hotel Kitesurfing.
