I've got a 06 tribal 13. I have read on the web that if you don't pump them up rock hard that the tips can flap, but after pumping mine up as hard as I thought I should today (it pinged when I flicked the leading edge), my tips seemed to actually flop inwards when I powered up the kite. It was bad enough that the kite seemed to want to fold up at one stage. Mostly the tips would come in and seemd to get caught for a moment on the lines.

I had the kite lines setup right (had someone check them too), but it was almost as if the back lines were too short and they were dragging in the tips too much when I pulled the bar down to power up.

The centre line was on the middle depower knot and it was about halfway powered up on the depower strap. Breeze was about 15-17 knots and abating slowly.

Has anyone got any ideas/tips?

How hard should I pump the leading edge up?

Should I get a pressure gauge?

i had an 06 f-one impact 13m that did the same thing I pumped the leading edge up to 10psi and problem solved.
Best kite I have flown better then the 07 vegas - pitty about the build strength.

If your the guy that was at Nobby's yesterday, get either myself or the guy you spoke to yesterday who owned the kite before you to check out how much you've pumped it up before you go out.

I will be there today (if the breeze comes in), I'm the chick with the xshore rashie on.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

hsojmars - I got a pressure gauge today so I'll have a clear idea of how the kite behaves at a specific pressure. The flicking and squeezing techniques don't really work if you don't know what's a normal flick and squeeze response so I'll pump it up to 8psi and see how it goes. Will increase it after that if needed.

missy - thanks, yes I am that guy. Couldn't get to the beach to kite today but should get there if it's on through the week. I'll ask if I see you.
