Hey all,
Ive got friday off and am looking to head down to foster/port/hawksnest for the a bit.
The winds look good for Wallis lake(wnw). Is it gunna be worth the 4 hour drive down for a session or are the local forcasts usually wrong?
Cant really afford fuel to get there(money a bit tight at the moment)but willing to eat 2 minuite noodels for dinner all next week to have a good kite(desssssspppperrrreeetttt for a kite).Or does anyone know of other spots around the area thats worth a kite in nwesters?
Cheers

Apparently tiona is good in a nor wester, which is just south of forster.
Also west side of the bridge in forster is supposed to be great too.

Tiona is safer than the bridge I think. You'll have to head straight upwind first and the launch is a bit onshore sketchy but not too bad. Pays to have a Lovely Assistant.

Give Glen a call from Xshore kiteboarding shop in foster. He knows all the good spots and right winds for them. His number is 0437775483, a good bloke to talk too about that whole area.

It's well worth the 2 dollar noddles you can stop at picnic point though if you run out of fuel and kite there

Went to foster and kited wallis lake at the sailing club.Got 2 sessions in,one early morning till the wind stoped then one in the arvo till the westerly overpowered me.
What a top spot, except for the kite killing trees. Was there by my self so had to do the sketchy self launch, all went well but if I had of botched it my kited wouldnt have been to happy.
Hey crazy canuk, where is picnic point???

Picnic point is at the entrance, against the lake.
Nice spot, butter smooth water, except for the horrible stinking mud!

You could have hit squids ink at belmont, im sure there would have been kites up today, also a great westerly location.

damn.. i was at the sailing club at wallis lake between 11.30 and 2. it is a tough place to launch and land solo. especially when its so onshore.. it hit 20 kts a few times.. good spot.. then on sat i went to south west rocks and OMG this is the best spot i have ever kited. works in sw, w, nw,ne i had it in a sou wester and it was just awsome.. magic camping ground too.. highly recomended to take the family..

Southwest rocks, think I missed the early stronger westerly.
I hung around most of the day but didnt look like the wind was gunna come back so I bailed out.Was that your kite up at about 2ish in the arvo?
