Taken 13 seasons but I can honestly say I have finally found a kite that suites my riding style, ambitions and personality if you like.

Wondering if any of you have found or had the same experience.

You have found a kite that seems to have been designed just for you. Obviously that's not entirely true but it damn well feels like it? What was ya journey like....expensive like mine!

We could go there I suppose. But I'm married with two kids so just kites for now. Women do come in different styles and brands but once married for long enough it's all the same really !!

Rather not name the kite due to the egg heads on this forum. But it is a very fast kite, sle c, big boosting, looping, unhooked kite that loves to be driven aggressively. If you don't you'd wonder wtf you are riding. It is a very technical kite as well which suites the engineering nerd in me.

Not superb in the surf unless onshore, then it rocks but good enough for what I do. Suites the cb wave, with a tight TT edge, the shinn monk which can hold a gigantic edge and there is enough race to be paired well with the sector.

Thing I like most about this kite is it gets better and better near its top wind range. Most kites I have flown become a handful. This kite allows you if ya up to it to tap into that power.

Yeh suites my personality. Anyone else had that ah ha moment.

Ps damn my spelling does suck, didn't even get the title right!!

OOOh i think i know the one?! :P Did you end up with what I think you did?

I can honestly say my 10 is the only kite that I can see myself on (for boosting and freestyle), from 12-35 knots its the only kite I take out of the bag. Only for unhooking range do I bother with other sizes.

PM if you wanna try the 10 might be able to arrange it!

Yeh that's the one. It's amazing the differentiation in the kites these days. There really is a kite for the individual if you search long and hard enough. I almost wish there was a consultant out there, someone who has been around since day dot we could tap into and leverage their knowledge. Demos to me only give you a taste as it can take a month or so until you truly understand the kite you are on. I'm at that stage now and it has become a real extension of my riding style and personality.

Just had that ah ha moment the other day while up at exmouth. Never really had that before. Hard to put in words without sounding like a ****w1t though, didn't really know how to word it. Yeh the VX for me is indeed a perfect kite. Still miss the real direct north feel of the Vegas and rebels though, especially with steering but everything else all is good.

Yeh the 10 is my fav as well. Can get out at 14 on the sector and near 25 to 27 on the shinn. Reckon I could take it further if was younger and had bigger balls.

I heard you were doing some big boosts the other day on the 10 while we were all on 6 and 8m but I didn't see you as I was down wind chasing some closeouts.

Yeh that would have been day before yesterday, bit light on yesterday. Was at sandy bay, got my 4 and 5 yr old up on the sector. Will post pictures when I work out how. Had some epic sessions so far but taking my kids out was easily one of the best things I've done up here. The boy loved it, did quite a few tacks. The girl screamed all the way out and all the way back in. And it wasn't in joy. Lol.

Been meaning to catch up with you, have to do it before I go turtle hunter but there is too much wind and too much kiting to do!

You are one lucky bastard living up here, this is gods country man.

About to do a down winder with some fellas in the homestead. Awesome bunch, but the poor pricks have to go Sunday!

Hey you hitting the bomby Sunday wanna do that before I go?

Nice shot, gotta get me one of those go pro whatchamacallits. My bro and I are always jumping each other like that although the other day, I nearly landed on his head...lol. He wasn't impressed so tried to hit me next time. Silly antics that I don't condone but I deserved it.

Hey eppo
Have been looking at the VX.. wondering what size to get 9 or 10m
I have a Shinn 132 monk and a shinn 140 King george... 85kg perth mainly Leighton, city beach and down winders as well as the estuary.

I have a smaller and larger kite but I have found I prefer the mid size kite and use both boards. the KG is an awesome board does everything. not like the old plank style light wind boards.

anyone know what the 2013 VX are like?

Me I'd go the 10 at that weight. The 2013 is meant to be the 2012 but on crack. Hence I went the 2012, figured that's enough for me for now.

Get in touch with mike birt, google him or find him on kite forum. He understands this particular kite better than anyone.

I'd go the 10 at your weight. The 2013 are even quicker and more juiced up, hence why I went 2012.

Get in touch with mike birt on kite forum, he knows more about these kites than most.

But this post is not meant to be about the VX, want to hear people's stories of when they found the right kite for them, whatever it may be.

well i started off hating my 8m. it was boring and slow and just plain dull...
but then i was flying it at the bottom of its range in 20-25 knots. i should have been on the 10m.

any way i have since had several session in the 28-38 knot range and I know why i bought it. in those stupid conditions its a fire cracker which boosts you to the moon but at the same time its controllable and easy to fly in those silly winds. i end up smashing and epic session and grinning from ear to ear.

is it the perfect kite for all conditions for me ? no its not. but in those epic gusty sessions with angry seas it is.....

back the wind off 10 knots and i select another kite which sounds similar to what you are explaining.....
