what wind conditions are you in ?

weight of wife would also be helpful...

a bow would be good to make it safer for her...

I would say a bow or hybrid of some kind. Go and fly some yourself and see which ones you think have the best set up for your wife and then get her to trial some with an instructor (she will feel safer).

I think that for the majority, it can be harder for women than men to come back after a bad scare. There's nothing worse than feeling pressure from your partner to do something you're not ready for or don't feel happy doing, it puts you off the sport and takes away the fun.

I weigh 61 kilos and have a 7m and 9m bow which covers me for all I need, I think your wife would be fine on a 7 or 8m.

Good luck!

Had a scare myself on Sat Swing...my sons and daughter learning to bodydrag on my Rebel 10,they are only light,I,m only 68 kilo's,the North Rebel is a terrific kite, and one feels very secure as you can dial in heeps of de-power...maybe a couple of pro leesons from one of many great instructor's around would be worth the money to help lift youre babes confidence again... regards Roo

I've been teaching my 13 year old daughter on a 10meter Rebel (which I bought for her) and me to use when it's windy and when it's light she uses my 12 metre Rebel.
It's been a great experienc in winds from 10 to 25-30 knots and she was up and riding after about 5 sessions
I have had a lot of experience teaching in the past and I am blown away by the bow and hybrids user friendliness
I don't think you need any thing smaller than a 10. Just teach them how to depower until it an instinctive action.
the bigger kites definately make it easier for beginners to get started in comparison to the small C kites we used in the past.
good luck

Taking her weight and ability into account, she could probably use a kite 1or 2 sizes bigger than yours taking your skill level into account, about a 7 bow/hybrid .. keep swingin slugger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. any 7m bow should take her from 15-25 easily. I'd avoid any bows with high bar pressure though, just because she probably won't have the arm strength initially.

Your wife will want and really like a high depower bow style kite with the full bridle, these are the easiest kites to relaunch and depower the most when the bar is let go of.
Cabrinha 7M CB2
Cabrinha 8M SB2
Cabrinha 7M Omega
Naish Boxer SLE 7M
Airush Flow SLE 7M
Slingshot TD2 7M

Another new option is the Ozone Instict Light 7M, super depower (virtually 100% when bar is dropped), easy relaunch, easy price.

but if she starts kiting who gonna get your beers at the end of the session? nah just playin, i would go with a slingshot T2 as they were designed to be safe and do none of that dangerous stuff bow kites do (invert etc.) so it would prevent anything weird happening where she cant relaunch or something and she getsd sucked out to sea in the tide, ive seen it happen.

Ask your wife what is most important to her in getting back into the sport, what will make her feel safer and strong enough to get back out there. Then you can find out what kites would best suit her and start looking.

For me the changes from C's to bows/hybrids boosted my confidence no end.

If she wants to talk to other female kiters about any concerns etc get her to PM me.

Hope all goes well and we see her on the water soon.

north rebel 10m - heaps of depower, easy relaunch massive wind range. I fly my 14 in 25-30 ....haven't had a fright yet. Taught my son on it 85 kilos in 16-24 knots no problems.
