Hi there,

Need more info from you.

ie weight, experience (lessons) and where you plan to ride.
also read this kiteboarding 101 from www.ikiteboarding.com/

There are some answers here for newbies

Rhino 2s are slow but have truck like pulling power. Also a 16 is NOT a beginners size.

A good start is a 12 metre generally and anything 2004-2005 Mid aspect
Board wise, not necessarily too long but wide for early planing
Underground FLX 142 for example is a good board to learn on as it is also a good board to progress on and becomes your light wind board in the future if you should progress enough to outgrow it.

Give us more info and we may be able to help you further

with that said, if you weigh 110kg then a 12m kite and 142 board will get you nowhere fast. talk to an instructor or shop guy about what will suit you based on your weight and local conditions... easy.

Bondo,

True True. I should have made it clearer that the 12m is for a rider who is between 65 to say 85 kgs.

Sure it's best though to talk to a local about local conditions

Good Luck

yeh i was 90kg when I started and learnt on a 12 and a 142 thats rides like a smaller board. very frustrating at the time, should have had a much bigger board (I went and bought one later anyway, for light winds)

Thanks kik, got your email. Weight between 85-90 kg, depends how many muffins l eat during the week. Green as green can be. How well do you know the bay coast line in Melbourne.

Just getting into this sport and looking for my own gear. Played with a few kites but nothing serious.

South eastern coast line of the bay if your are familiar. Peninsula way.
