Hi seabreezes.love the site and I enjoy banter.
After surfing for 20yrs I have discovered kiteboarding and love it.I have been learning in se Asia at various locations.I,m up tp buying gear I,m 82kg and I've been told 12m,9m would a good kite range to start with especially for traveling around.I ,ve been told ozone cat,12m is a great kite and north 9m and also read epic kites are great too.I ,ll be in Perth for a few days buying all my gear any advice on best shop or anyone need to offload gear,I,m after pretty newish gear. Then I,m off 6 weeks in indo ,surfing and kiting around if anyone keen to join up.
Cheers

That's a good quiver for winds we get here say 14kts - 30kts but what winds do you generally get where you are?

I'd get the same model/brand rather than 2 x different models. Especially when starting out.

get two of same kite type, that way you have the correct power scale.

also save money and buy one bar if you do not plan on selling them every season or two.

I'm 82 kegs and on a surfboard 9 and 12 work well for me... I find a 10m and a Twin tip work 90% of the summer in Perth...
Are you looking for a wave specific kite or an all rounder? Which North are you looking at?

The north rebel I,m looking at .my mate up here tells me don,t buy an ozone as their slow and powerless he loves the north rebel.hes opinion I guess.i,m learning on flat water but off course I can,t wait to ride waves being a surfer. I,ll be kiting the summer in Perth as well as south east Asia trips.cheers for feedback so far one brand off both kite is a good idea.

Love my Ozones for their simplicity and performance. I have flown a North before and while they have the same level of functionality, they had too many bits and bobs to accomplish it.

Unless your mate works for north..... In which case we know why he says that....

He's just plain wrong

Why would that be?

Don't over complicate it. If you want two kites, choose a good allrounder which is user friendly, simple and easy to learn on, and get 2 of those.

Go to AKS in Scarborough, they stock both North and Ozone.
