Hey folks, just got a second hand kite delivered. Having a tough time getting a tight knot out of one of the lines. Any handy tips? Ive tried soaking it in hot water and getting a pin in there but she wont budge.

Yeah so searched a little "harder" and found that if you hit it with a hammer after soaking it it works a treat. It does. Problem solved. Thanks for the help Chris you kook! Wish I could red thumb myself

I usually chew it with my molars - for some reason the combo of saliva and time seems to loosen the worst of knots.

Yeah i've done it by chewing a few times too. Seems to work, also try hammering the knots when their wet. That loosens them a bit.

Hi guys,

When hammering knots, make sure you use a smooth faced ball pein hammer and tap lightly against another smooth surface with lots of saliva on it.

Or you could just use your Molars as Sci suggests. I use my teeth and chew for about 2 minutes with lots of saliva, then just work the knot with my finger nails. Easy!

Haven't found a knot that has gotten the better of me yet!

If you really can't get it loose cut either side of it and tie the loose ends together.

wouldnt that defeat the purpose of getting the knot out in the first place

I always find that beer seems to magically get knots out of lines.
I sit down with a beer or two, have a drink then chew the line between my molars and it loosens right up in no time.

Excellent suggestion, Slack!!

Your technique would work even if you didn't have any knots in the line.
