read the rules a few times, hate it when people get in urway and then they accuse you of being in the wrong

simple; if you are riding down the line on a breaking wave then you have right of way.
however, i have had run ins with poleys who expect right of way when they are sailing out through the waves. they are easy enough to cut around and i have no problem with this as long as they continue sailing out, but some of them gybe on the wave and drop in when you give them room.
i show everyone respect as long as i get some back in return

Surfing rules!
If you're in waves you should be there to ride them so keep out of the way of the guy who is already riding a wave.
When launching off the beach look over your shoulder to make sure nobody is coming down the line.
If you don't want to ride waves then stay out the back or find some flat water.
Unlike windsurfers, kites are in clean air and rarely grovel trying to get out so I see no reason not to adopt surfing rules.

I agree, surfing rules on waves overrule other rules, if you are on the wave you have right of way, unless it is another water craft or user of course, then they get right of way.
