Constant moisture will make the contact adhesive break down over time.
What sort of time frame does it take to breakdown?
My experiences: I have repaired two Cab bars, both under two years old and it looked to me like they had used contact adhesive from the factory. If you used contact adhesive again to repair it you may get another two years out of it which is not bad, and ur probably not gonna keep ur gear for four years. Just saying, I have used Sikaflex for my repairs as I have had experience with both products in the marine and cabinetmaking industries and my preference in this instance would be Sikaflex.
I should also mention that excessive heat will also cause contact adhesive to break down.
