Anyone been on a recent Kite trip to Maroochydore or Mooloolaba? A Mate and I are coming up to Kite around the sunshine coast. Bringing the girlfriends and a baby. (They wanna stay at Mooloolaba) - we wanna stay wherever its windy with waves and lots of Kites. Any Ideas. The Girls are on to Five star which is o.k as long as we don't miss out cause were in a **** spot.

Try Majorca Isle at Maroochydore. Close walk to Cotton Tree so got surf beach or flat water in the river mouth. Haven't kited there myself due to lack of wind the other week, but seems to be fairly popular when it's on. Or Catalina bit further down the road. There's also a place next to the Majorca - not sure what it's called but will be an even shorter walk.

I've stayed at Majorca and Catalina and both are pretty good.

have a look on whereis.com.au for any hotel close to the maroochydore river mouth - not the mooloolaba spit!

you want somewhere just on the southern edge of the river mouth, like cotton tree. most kiters get out in the river mouth there, it's a ripper of a spot with good waves and a large, shallow area of flat as well. you can then easily walk there from your hotel!

I live on the Sunshine Coast and can confirm that Cotton Tree will be the best bet. If the wind is good for a downwinder then you are close to the Maroochy North shore which is great for SE SSE NE and NNE - and excellent waves - sorry I can't suggest any accommodation as I have obviously never stayed in any but the ones that the others have suggested look good.
