Looking for recommendations for a spot on Maui suitable for both kiting and flat water windsurfing (similar to Le Morne, Mauritius) as a destination for a week's holiday.

You'll see the kiters there from the airport. Not hard to find!

yeh go around kanaha, 'pro pool' just downwind from kanaha has the best flat water but just be weary of local fisherman etc, they aren't too fond of kiters so a lot of the time the flat water sections isn't too rideable, you also need to have a touch of N in the wind for it to work. Other than that, not too much flat water around unless you get some strange winds for other parts of the island. Plenty of good wave spots on the north shore too though

And be aware you can't kite before 11am at Kanaha, if planning most of the day at the beach take your own food and refreshments as no shops nearby at all

Maui, while very windy, is very choppy - its not like it is that super annoying wavelength that you can get though - usually anyway.. The chop tends to be bigger - you can kind of ride over it... can make great boosting kickers.
Slicks? other than behind the rocks - forget it.
Mauis gold is that if you don't get bucket loads of 7m wind in June and July you get your money back.. it has never happened. Non wind days are 12m days.

Maui has no flat water. It's all choppy with exception to the tiny area at Pro Pool. As big as it may look on videos you see, it is a tiny spot and can only hold one kiter at a time. Rotation order is critical and you need to clear carve away downwind to make way for the rider.
Over rated in my opinion. Lowers at Kanaha can be fun in between the waves. There was some less choppy water at Camp 1 but pretty sure you can't kite there anymore. (too close to runway).
Kehei (the other side) can have a bit of flat water when the wind is right, but can be quite gusty.
It does get windy in Maui, but for me, I like Oahu, wind is less but lots of options for good kiting, and less meth heads.
