Good luck with that. Everyone will say their physio is the best

On a more serious note, have you tried board shorts harness? No back pain!

Chiros aren't endorsed by the AMA. It's basically phoney medicine, like herb sucking, or strapping a banana to your forehead at sunrise. (Although placebo can be very effective)

As someone said, also think about a different harness if kiting is to blame.

Go straight to the tippy top. Try and get an appointment with Evan Coopes. He works part time at Ascend Physiotherapy at HBF stadium. He also lectures at Curtin University. This guy is a genius. Best Physio by far.

this from his bio

Evan works part-time at Ascend in conjunction with his principal role as a lecturer in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Curtin University. He is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with a particular interest in patients who require manipulative physiotherapy and especially more complex cases.

i resolved my back problems with some rest while it hurt too much, then by using it and building it up muscle wise... lots of surfing for me... well anything that involved using it.

It is much better.

No way i would go down the chiropractor / research it on the internet rabbit hole... not healthy physiologically speaking which in turn effects the physical as people are affraid to use it.

A doctor that can look at an MRI... if it is super bad andd has been going on for some time, even then it will get better. Most doctors don't understand sports people, especially if not super young... understand this - maybe go to a sports specialist and tell them the deal about how important kiting is - many doctors see being able to walk as success.. don't listen to them... need a doctor that understands this.

i'd go to see sports doctor specialist if i had the $$

Thanks so much for all the replies, it's much appreciated.
i think with me it's more niggle that just won't go. I'm 51 and maybe the problem is to much training. I'm in the gym doing weights, cycling, heaps of core, and kiting. Just did ct scan on lumber spine and everything perfect with no degeneration at all.
ive a feeling it's a tight psoas muscle. Since I've incorporated these stretches it's getting way better. See how we go.

Hey Ste,

A Very good sports doctor is Dr Jane Taylor. She is in Karrinyup. She is also a kiter as well as being sports doctor for the Fremantle Dockers. She was able to help me out recently when i was incapacitated when a few physio's seemed unable to tell me what was wrong and how to fix it. She nailed it forst try. Had an MRI to confirmand she was bang on. Prescribed the right medication and course of action. Good as new again.

Still Physio I'd see Coopes, but Dan Anderson is pretty top bloke and no doubt a good Physio that also kites.

Hope you mend well mate.

I would second the idea of seeing someone that works with sports injuries. I went to see a shoulder specialist who decided my pain was referred pain from the neck and sent me to a neck specialist who told me 'don't think of yourself as disabled' and 'there is not much we can do'. Great...

I got a second and third opinion from sports specialist orthopedic surgeons, and they both agreed it was likely to be a shoulder problem with the acromion impinging (in my opinion, probably from wakeboarding). The second guy operated on it and fixed the problem immediately, as in no pain the very minute I got out of surgery. The original guy would probably still be telling me it was referred pain, but the sports specialists see a lot more injuries from active people, so have probably a better chance of resolving it.
