Hello,
I will be travelling in Australia for 3 months and I am looking for a good and fun spot along the east coast for kitesurfing. A place that doesn't have too many waves, but steady wind in January but where I don't get eaten up by eather box jelly fish or sharks....
Where is good to go?

Thanks!
Sarah

mwoah... Thanks for the offer, but I was more thinking of a reasonably prices hotel/motel/hostel? With my back-pack and kitesurfing gear I don't feel like carrying around camping gear as well...

Sarah,
You could try Elliot Heads, which is just near Bundaberg. It's our fave spot (my GF and I). Flat water out the back, small waves out the front and no stingers of any kind normally. You might also look at Hervey Bay....particularly if you want to go and check out Fraser Island if there's no wind There's plenty of backpackers spots in H'Bay too, so accomodation should be easy to find.

If your here in JAnuary you should rent a campervan and spend the month going from the sunshine coast all the way down to victoria. It blows me away how many good spots there are, just look on google earth or ask the kiters/ kite shops. You can't go wrong that time of the year expect 3 to 5 days a week of wind maybe more in a good year.

STREWTH!!!!!!
Over here in WA any self respecting kiter would drop stone dead if he didn't get at least 8 days per week with enough wind to kite in January ........
