It arrived yesterday (how good is it unwrapping a new kite ) just in time for WA's first real seabreeze. Luckily it was also a real light one because this was my new lightwind kite. Absolutely awesome, I am stoked. Ive test driven quite a few kites but always been left wondering cos it seems it always takes a while to get any real feel for any new/different kite. No such problem with my 13M REV. Apart from a bit of an unco teething problem with timing I had an absolute blast. I'll stick to the rules and put up a longer tale in the review section asap but for the here-an'-now -:
Its looks like a great year for new kites but my 2c's is "DONT buy anything till you have at least tried the REV".
just cos ur worth it

ps: please see my ads in buy & sell cos I just have to have a matching 9M - RIGHT NOW

Tried the rev today, a 9m, and it feels kindof like a combination of a RRD type 9 and an era. Kite/bar lines etc look solid, i found the bar to be a bit small - just my preference.

Kite turns quick and has plenty acceleration. I found the sweet spot a little more difficult to find than other kites i tried, but a bit of practise would see that sorted and can see why peoples like it.

Bottom end wasn't as good as the era, but would imagine the top is better. definitely worth a demo, so many good kites , so little cash.

Hey Puppet I will have have to catch up with you for a swapsy's session, I met you a couple of weeks ago whilst demoing a kite at woodies and although the kite I was demoing was sweet, I ended up settling on a F-one Bandit. Couldn't decide which size to get (i tried the 11 and loved it) so ended up buying two, a 9mtr and 13mtr. Unwrapping a new kite is always good but two is twice as good

P.S. I tried lots of kites and there is so many good kites this year but no i didn't try the Rev but I bet you didn't try the Bandit either

dont need to try the bandit to know it will break before the Rev. Got stung before on ****ty built fone's. Wouldn't touch them again.

bit like a french car they are.

I bet the local head huncho rides fone, thats really why you ride them. Thats it buy into the crew.

Yes a lot of the local crew rides F-one but that hasn't influenced me before, they were riding Tribal 2's last year but I am not into 5 line kites. I read a bit about the bandit on kiteforum and liked the sound of the Delta C concept but I decided that as I was going to buy 2 new kites this year I was going to demo heaps until I found the one that felt right for me. I demoed 5 different brands and they all felt better than the 07 kites I was riding last year but as soon as I rode the Bandit I just felt like it was the one for me. Its hard to tell what the quality is like by looking at them but I know that it flys great. If you get the chance have a go before you bag them.

Why is it people only remember the bad things, some people really liked the link with the red bridal and still are liking it despite repetitive bagging from people like cwamit. Funny I always thought you were a great bloke till I started reding the forums..
Why not look at the good things that slingshot started, one pump system and so many more.. Forget the past and step into the future I've always been a fuel man but this year I'll have to rev's when we finally are able to get enough in so I can get one. Consumers have it first this year.

So you publicly agree slingshot made a mistake with the "link" then!!

I would like the money back I lost when I had to sell the pile of crap(when you guys would not take it back...blaming me for the problem...). I lost about $1000 in 4 weeks... I'll have that back now...
Admission of guilt, grounds for me to call my lawyer I think.

Or you could just do the right thing and restore some of my consumer confidence....without legal intervention.

And Dave, people do and always will, remember the bad experiences over the good. The only way to make a wrong right is to right the wrong!
And it is very simple to do...It's just about eating up some pride.

Try unwrapping a new kite, brand spanking new, straight out the bag, laying out the lines, checking everything as you go and admiring the quality of the new seasons kite. Have someone launch the kite for your first flight, fly the kite back and forwards, check the safety system, check that everything is working as it should.

Anticipating that first ride on a board, stoked with the looks, the way it handles so far, excitment levels building....

Then without riding the kite, give the kite to a student, someone you are teaching and you have no idea if he is even able to fly the kite.

Have done this three times so far this season.

I love a new kite, a new anything, just doesnt seem right to be letting a newbie have a new kite.
To the students credit, they did excellent and made my job as an instructor easy.
Lucky lucky bastards i say, have only had three new kites myself, i think i should have at least run the new kites in, just like a new car.......
It just doesnt seem right........

Regards
Richard T

Actually my point was what you’re saying, so I agree don’t just bring up the bad stuff. It was a tongue in cheek reply to carbine and the issues he had with f-one, guess my point was a little too subtle that it was lost in forum translation.

I don’t think we know each other off the forum? Perhaps you’re mistaking me for someone else.

Hey they should be in soon, but make sure to get an order in as there going like mad.
Hey so you going to come up to newy and say hello again, thanks for passing along your feed back to steve, hopefully I'll get him a demo in the next couple of days when Andy is back from Qld.
Also Andy may look at hitting melb this weekend with some demo kites if conditions look good and he's recovered from QLD.

"Gotta love a new kite"
Even moreso when you find out a couple of days later that the new World Speed Record was set on... "The Black Bandit"... the same type and colour kite as your new toy.

i took out my 12m link today and it was awesome. had a bit of trouble with re-launch though.. is there a trick to it? it's the first bow kite i flown so that probably has something to do with it.

rev's look nice, if i wasnt a student i'd definatley demo one
