All those that canned Herrison Island will be pleased to learn that the Swan River Trust has NOT approved the application.

The venue will now be South Perth in NE-ESE and Cott in SSW-NNW.

I know your hands were tied by the the sponsors as far as Herrison went Ian .
I think that the Swan River Trust has done us all a favour .
I know you have done a huge amount of work already and I am sure it will be a lot more pleasant doing the rest of the job knowing that you don't have to argue about venue anymore .
At least now we can all work together and look forward to a great event in a great location .

SWT knocked it back because it was unacceptable to setup 100m of temporary decking or dump sand over rocks to establish a safe launch/ recovery area. This was despite approval from City of Perth who actually own the site.

Would be good to head down to south perth anytime next week. Im heading down Tuesday morning...GOT MY CAST OFF!!

GG is 6-9 Oct. Setup will be on the grassed area just North of the flag pole near where the catamaran hire place is.

Judges will probably be in a 45' boat. JZ between the "beach" and the ferry channel markers. If it is not safe or the wind is not clean enough we will be forced to move the JZ further off the beach.

All still subject to the required approvals from all the appropriate authorities.

SWT can be quite pedantic. If you need help addressing some of the enviro issues to appease them, drop me a line, I might be able to add the right words to the application. (I'm an Enviro Engineer and do a little bit of work with SWT but not in this area). Unfortunately SWT has do or die power over anything in/on/close to the Swan.
