Hi everyone,

I'm a french student and I'm going to study in Sydney from end of July. I have to book my flight tickets within the next days. I decided to land in Cairns around June 24th, in order to kite there during a week.
Then, I was thinking about doing the journey from Cairns to Brisbane with Greyhound.
Is it worth it? Are there some nice spots along this road for beginners?
Here is the stops map: http://www.greyhound.com.au/Help/types-of-passes/maps/map-mini-traveller-bne-cns.aspx

I did a lot of research on this forum for other areas but I'm now quite in a hurry...

Many thanks!

Wind wise, the further north you are the higher your chances of wind. From Cairns to Mackay I'll bet my left nut you'll get 15 knots+ of SEers on most days. As you get down towards the Sunshine Coast/ Brissie the chances of good, windy days is gonna drop, still plenty of spots around.

Not sure how you go with access being on a greyhound bus as most spots are gonna need a bit of a drive out of town.

Thank you for your quick answers!
It would probably be wiser to stay around Cairns longer instead... Hope I will be able to move around with buses.

Hey Adrien, best is definitely to stay around Cairns and enjoy as much as you can before heading to winter in Sydney. The main spots I'm aware of are Yorkey's Knob just north of the city, and 4 Mile Beach in Port Douglas (easy to get there by bus)

Then when you arrive in Sydney and look for some other crazy kiters to go riding in the freezing water and wind make sure you join the big SUCKers family! => www.facebook.com/groups/sydneyunicrazykiters

Cheers,
Antoine

Merci beaucoup pour ta réponse Antoine ;)

That's what I'll do, staying at Port Douglas and around for 3-4 weeks before coming to Sydney. Then, see you in Botany Bay!
