Is a 2006 monkeykites/griffin 12m kite reasonable for a beginner? Were the 2006 models bow kites?

I flew a 15m while in the states and thought it was an absolute pig of a kite, but to be fair the conditions weren't the best.
Flame suit on, go ahead pimpers.

Iv flown the 07 and 09 Griffins and loved them, But i cant really comment on the 06. Can't you just test fly before buying?
