Use the search at the top of the page.

You will find plenty of info on the whitsundays.

If Hamo is the only place you are going, leave your gear at home.

The island is a big hill and the other islands near it are also hills.

If you are lucky enough to have the wind in the right direction, the tide at the right hieght, you may get out for about 1/2 hour at the only beach on the island you could kite.
You also would have to watch out for the jet ski hire, catamaran hire & fish feeding and also when the tide goes out there is not much beach and lot of coral.

Other wise you need a boat to get to the the limited number of spots worth kiting around there.

Hire a golf Buggy, but don't get booked by the police.
It is a good view from up on top of the hill behind the resort, but you gota walk.
Things aren't cheap to buy.
The coral around the Island ain't that good
Buy all your groceries from Airle beach and bring over on the boat with you.
There is a guy from the sunsail crew who Kites
There is a builder on the island who kites
The Saturday seafood night is all right At one of the restaurants.
The Polynesian night over on daydream is OK.
If you are staying in one of the self-contained units to the east of the highrises, you will have heaps of cockatoos during the day & possums at night.
Ian Murray is going to be the commodore of the new yacht club.
They are building a 6 star resort on the northwestern point.
When the current owners bought the island it is rumoured they didn't realise that dent island was also in the deal.

Also if you are on the ground floor and the people above cut there hair and sweep it off the veranda it will end up down on your veranda.

My family enjoyed the week there

There’s a bit more info for you that might not be on your travel brochure :)

You can kite the channel between Hamilton Island and the one next to it on the marina side of the island. Forget what its called. I have seen plenty of kites there but you would have to be on top of your game as it is a channel. Walk to the end of the road past the yacht club.

Whitehaven would be awesome and is easily accesible form Hamo by water taxi, tourist cruise or beer tax to the locals.

I would take my kite on the off chance, it ould be one of your best sessions. You'd hate to miss out.

hill inlet at the bottom end of whitehaven was awesome- my avatar was shot there-

great at high tide-pretty dry at low tide--

watch out for the nests of stingrays- also saw plenty of small reef sharks cruising the inlet.

I didn't think they let you kite on teh marina side as thats where the airplanes land.

I heard a rumor that there going to try and put a golf course on dent island.

Hey Canuck, yeah that could be the case as it is where the planes approach from. I lived there three years ago and as we all know anything was go.

Don't forget the legendary "nude tuesday" every week held by island staff. Its held on a remote beach and is pretty loose. Tuesday night at "sporties" bar is not to be missed even if they tell you guests aren't allowed.

Heading up on the last week of July,
Anybody goin I'll catch ya there. Sweet... my wife has given me a pass to kite as much as i like. Golf Buggy's already accomodated as we got it with the penthouse at the marina.
Anybody over there at the same time we can send the women off shopping or snorkling and us over whitehaven for some flat water sessions.
What's the cost of a taxi to whitehaven from Hamilton?

got to go to whitehaven. if you cant hire a water taxi buy one. its the best spot on the world. you may be able to hire a helicopter or buy one 2. In fact buy a water taxi and a helicopter.

Just got home from Hamilton and the surrounding area sailing on a yacht and there is only Whitehaven and the small sand bar near Black Island opposite Hayman, otherwise leave the gear at home...

Due to the islands its gusty, not worth it and Jetstar will get you for excess luggage..

Bannanaboy, you can get a water taxi to Whitehaven. The water sports guys who do wakeboarding, fishing, snorkelling tours should be able to help. The are in front of "romanos" restaurant in the marina. Not sure how much, but its the tropics and is largely an open economy, try bundy or beer.

Hey guys, looks like im going to miss you by a couple of weeks (end of June trip). Just wondering if Whitehaven has anything for the missus to do other than get shi##y and wind blown. And are we talking cartons or six packs to get to Whitehaven and back from Hamilton Island.
Cheers
