Might be heading there in early december. Looks like a nice place. About 30k's south of margaret river. Just wondering if anyone has been there. What the low-down is. From the sounds of the place it seems there are lots of sting rays.
Does the seabreeze even come in that far south?

Hey DP
I think you mean Hamelin Bay/Boranup.
This is one of WA's best beaches in my opinion. Can turn on some epic bneach breaks for surfing - Margaret's needs to be at least 6 foot and North East.
As for kite action, I would take a surf board. Generally flatter and less swell action at the Southern end near the caravan park. More swell and banks further North.
I think you can still 4wd on the beach certain times of the year coming from the Boranup forest or from the caravan park (this may be illegal in Summer).
Overall if good waves, white sand and clear blue water apeal you should have fun. By the way, the stingrays come right up to the beach in front of the caravan park looking for a feed.
The south wester is pretty consistent in summer though not as strong generally as Perth.
Enjoy.

Haha, yeah. thats what i ment. .
So theres surf there? Cool. From the pics all i saw was dead flat water in the bay, and thought of kiting. But surfing as well. The place sounds better and better.

Yeh Hamilon Bay is generally flat, blows offshore in the prevailing conditions. The best bet is to drive down to Boranup the beach north of hamelin bay, it looks like it would be epic when the winds cranking, meant to be sweet surf there too, just wacth the sharks
Thanks

Hamelin Bay/Boranup is a very nice beach and excellent camping spot. I camped and surfed there often when I lived down that way. Nice beach break and not very crowded. The seabreeze comes in reasonably strong and when I was there, it was generally straight cross shore on Boranup. Never kited there, but will hopefully get there kiting this Summer.
