The Hellfish is a 5 liner.

All other kites are now redundant!

The Hellfish will RULE!

yea i do not know how i can deal with it. The only one on the beach without a shiny silver kite. boo hoo. Anyone got some paint.

A nice old(but not to many k's on the clock) 20m north would suit me 2.

Fingers crossed my Hellfish will arrive next month ?

In regards to flying with a 5th line... 15m or smaller does not require the 5th line to be used. 15m or larger requires the 5th line to be used...

We still reconmend using the 5th line on all the kites in regards to safety...

Next week I have shippment arriving with the latest model Yarga's and some new demo boards, drive series & float series...

So ,Best users are going to go from smart arse comments like" Everyone else pays too much for their kites,"

To, " Ha,I paid much more for my kite than you!"

Check the prices.
Cost MORE for kite only than a big brand name with bar and lines etc.

Can't wait to see who wins the light wind challenge http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2316263 $US 10K entry fee is a bit steep, but it's for a great cause - all money goes to a charity to help injured kite surfers, etc. Looks like at least Best and FlySurfer going for it!

Is it true that the first Hellfish into the UK ripped in half before the rider even got in the water?

Think about it for a second, even if your a none best rider...

Would we spend so much time, money & effort to release a **** kite when we've worked so hard to produce a solid product backed by superior customer support...just to flush it down the toilet

The reason you havent heard much hype on here of late is, well I promised Laurie I would not start best threads apart from "reviews"... I will however answer question...

And; in regard to a review & when a Hellfish arrives in Perth... Hopefull, fingers crossed my Hellfish will arrive next month. There fore I will be looking for guys to ride it and tell us what you think of the kite in the reviews section...

Ian,
What do you know about the Speeds? Will you be getting stock. Have you flown them? Sounds like FS are finally making foils again instead of self inflating tube kites!

G'day Ian

I'm surprised you would drag up an unsubstantiated rumour and post it here.
And guess what, its not true!

I have said nothing much about the Hellfish, because I don't like hype, just facts, when I have my demo kite, which I have just been told by Alex Shogren, will be shipped from Florida today, you will all see reviews on it ASAP.

And I respect the forum rules.

Steve I was asking a question - thanks for answering it. I had heard the UK story from a reliable source and wanted to substantiate it - this forum reaches many people who might know incl those who might have first hand experience and no financial bias. All I'm interested in is the truth.

I look forward to test riding the Hellfish when Brownee getts his in - I'm open minded enough to see for myself :-) Hey Brownee maybe we could even have our own WA light wind challenge?

Kitesuffer, I have a 7m SPEED proto - amazing power, about the same as a 10m Extacy but not as stable, turns fast, it's a very high AR, 4 lines all the way to the bar, can be flown with or without WAC, has all the usual FS benefits of fast & easy water re-launch, etc. I believe they have changed some of the bridling on the production models to make them more stable and lighter bar pressure. There's a detailed test report @ http://ram-air.de/ram-air/tests/kites/unterseiten/speed_7_eng.htm
I hope to bring a few back with me in July when I'm in Germany for Gavin H's wedding.

G'day Ian
If you did not verify the accuracy of the "reliable source", before posting it here on a public forum, then it just looks like another attempt to smear the kite.
You seem to know Brownee, you could have asked him, or me.
There is only 1 hellfish in the UK, it is a pre production proto and is in one piece.

Can you name the source?

If the position were reversed I would never post a rumour about a FS kite, before checking with you.

Nothing wrong with a bit of harmless fun is there Steve. You gotta have a bit of a go at all the carry on and hype. If the kite rides better surely people will buy it!!
I do have a question

Is it true that North and other big sail companies actually supply all the fabric to the kite companies? If so interesting North is not on board with this stuff, maybe they thought the kite with this material would be a little xy for the current market. One things for sure, the hellfish looks pretty wild.

If this fabric is heaps lighter, does that mean we will be able to fly heaps bigger kites? Great for heavy mother like me.

I wonder if the fearfilled paranoid conspirators of the Poleclan Chieftans and the Poleclan teamprawn gangs would be amused if the shoe were on the other foot.

Anyway the baby teamprawns of the decaying Poleclan cartel and the chief poleclaners themselves live in fear of Al kiter and the Power, why else would they whisper their malicious plans to each other and direct that the forums be the battlefield of their attempted resurection.

Its too late though, the Power of Al Kiter is among us, and Bin Cuben the secretive leader of the revolution will sweep all the paranoid fools before him!

Behold the power of Al Kiter!

Cya and

Goodwinds

Steve McCormack

PS I think a lighter kite is going to mean you will be able to get your largeness going with a smaller kite, not a bigger one. The bigger kites made with this fabric will have more range than heavier kites, all the extra weight does is add drag that kills range.

PPS - No its not true that North own or control all the factories that manufacture the materials that go into polyester kites. North Kites, is not owned by North Sails, and North sails would have no use for the crap we have been using in the sail area of our polyester kites.

It works for kites, but would be useless for sails that North would put their name on.

PPS Using the traditional Poleclan supply lines would mean your weapon of choice would cost around $4000 per kite - ouch!

PPPS Poor relative, you sound like a fiend of Al Kiter go to the brown one and you can be first in the queue for sure and be fully converted to the Power

Hey all,

Interesting thread .... kinda. Does anyone actually believe that Best are the only company that have been experimenting with advanced cloth types such as laminates and advanced polymers etc?

I know for a fact that other companies have been prototyping and experimenting with ultra high tech fabrics and have made kites that are higher performance than currently available generic kites. The problem comes down to longevity and cost.

Who will be prepared to pay through the nose for a kite that is 10% better than the best (performance) current kite? And will they be happy with the condition it is in in 12 months time? This is the problem. I am not disputing that the Hellfish will be an advanced kite or that Cuben Fibre will be lighter, stronger or whatever, but people choose kites with an eye to weighting between cost and performance and hype, perhaps Best have a winner here? That will depend upon performance to cost ratio after time has past.

Only time will tell and lets all hope that this new technology is successful and that the general public all embrace the extra $400 or $500 per kite, that we will pay for this technology, that way, all companies will start using advanced fibres, performance will leap forward and the cost of kites will increase by 25% in the near future.

Not sure what my point is, but it is going to be interesting to reflect back over these threads in 12 or 18 months time with hindsight as our guide.

I honestly wish Best good luck on their endeavour and anxiously await the Hellfish so I can ride one myself and then form my own opinion.

Good winds all

Regarding the recent attacks on you Steve and the Best-bashing parochial mentality in Australia, remember it's nothing new in the larger scheme of things:

"All truth passes through three stages:

-First, it is ridiculed

-Second, it is violently opposed

-Third, it is accepted as self-evident."

(Schopenhauer)

While its slow right now, the 3rd stage will arrive, eventually

Poor relative, you sound like a fiend of Al Kiter

actually KP i have in my varied and extreme life been the leader of a number of organisations.

in my time i have attempted to gain world domination by firstly attempting to rid the universe of traffic lights and build roundabouts, i cloned dear Hardman to assist with this and had Mariah carey as my evil mistress however it all went pear shaped.

I have also attempted to gain world domination by building cubby houses, filling them with an evil mixture of engine oil and foam again this was less than successful.

my latest scheme is marinas, having been reunited with my long lost son, Poor boy, on this forum. During the reunification my prolactin levels hit the roof, enabling me to spew forth an amazing amount of breast milk.

As such our first marina has been completed in Leanora, brimming with fresh breast milk.

i will in time have multiple marinas around the world brimming with breast milk, and i will then of course take over the world.

However i have never been part of this evil terror network namely al kiter and please would you be so kind as to dissassociate me from said organisation.
