I have just started being able to obtain air over the last couple of sessions, but whenever I do (especially riding goofy) I tend to over shoot myself. What happens is when I land in the water the kite seems to be upwind of me. Obviously this means I cannot keep powered up and ride away, but rather wait for the kite to kinda float downwind (sometimes hitting the water before I can power it up again). Has anyone any idea what I am doing wrong? I also seem to go a lot more horizontal than vertical. I want to go high ļ

Cheers,
Tom

From what I've learnt, I think edging as hard as possible until the moment of lift off helps. It almost sounds as if you are swinging beneath the kite and landing downwind of it, edging would reduce the 'pendulum' effect.

Someone else will explain the reason why a bit better I'm sure, but yeh, edge

I'm just learning to boost myself and from the sounds of it your leaving the kite too high for too long. Once you've got to the highest point of your jump you need to bring the kite down in the direction you want to travel. If you don't do it then your likely to just drop back into the water.

If on the other hand your just swinging under the kite without getting any lift then your probably not redirecting the kite hard enough to initiate the jump in the first place. As far as i can tell if your riding at a reasonable speed then redirect the kite back up to 12 whilst depowering; then start to progressively build an edge then pull the bar back in to power up and boost away.

For all those experts out there, feel free to correct me and give me a couple of pointers. At the moment this is kinda like the blind leading the deaf.
