Is it generally better to go for a higher AR kite for larger kites say a 14 m?

Yep. Most kites of the same model get higher in AR as they get bigger. Otherwise they're too slow.

So if I were to buy a 14m would you recommend as an example to go for an airush lift(which is higher AR) as opposed to a flow..

If you are advanced or intermediate I would go a Lift. The '05 lift is a bit lower AR than the old hi AR kites so that would be good. The new Flows are still fast so that is fine if you are beginner to Intermediate.
