So how long would a leash have to be safe(ish) 15mts?

Sometimes kite in an area where if it turns to **** it would be good to drag back to land & pull the board in.
Wind up tape measure or
One of those reels from a fishing bow

Leashes should be banned, dangerous to you and others around you.
Either get wake boots for your board or learn to kite elsewhere until your good enough not to lose your board

Just google kite board head injuries and you see a bunch of seabreeze forums come up of guys with heads split open and also go to the images part of google

I was talking to a guy down our local and his leash has a clip on it that if its under immense pressure ( tombstone board ) the clip breaks there fore never gets the rubber band effect.
However leash cord and line tangle...... I have never heard of a cure fore that....

Like is said, just don't use the boardleash!! It's better to loose your board instead of end up like this:

Luckily for him he stayed conscious and didn't drown.
P.s. To ROSS1BRO If your thinking of kiting in a croc infested waters, then your going to attract them with all the splashing and noise that boards make during kiting and no leash will stop you from getting grabbed as you wiz by one, for faaarks sake these things can catch fish as they swim past.
You'll only run a stop sign so many times before you get taken out.

I use a leash reel and secure it to the board with a small cable tie. It breaks every tenth or so fall. I believe that, like anything else that involves risk, you analyse the risk and work within the boundaries. My board can't spring back at me because the cable tie breaks but I would not use it if I was learning a new skill where there was a reasonable chance that I was going to fall or loose control etc.

At 15m a leash would be dangerous to other kiters, not just yourself.
The only REAL option: don't go out of your depth until you can bodydrag, relaxed, a bit upwind, in any conditions. Put your name and number on the board because 95% of the time you or another kiter will pick it up downwind.
