P.s. To ROSS1BRO If your thinking of kiting in a croc infested waters, then your going to attract them with all the splashing and noise that boards make during kiting and no leash will stop you from getting grabbed as you wiz by one, for faaarks sake these things can catch fish as they swim past.
You'll only run a stop sign so many times before you get taken out.

I use a leash reel and secure it to the board with a small cable tie. It breaks every tenth or so fall. I believe that, like anything else that involves risk, you analyse the risk and work within the boundaries. My board can't spring back at me because the cable tie breaks but I would not use it if I was learning a new skill where there was a reasonable chance that I was going to fall or loose control etc.
