Hi all

Advice required please. Looking to get into kitesurfing, have done a week's IKO course early in the year, but crap conditions meant I only got to just attempting water starts.

Any recommendations for who to have lessons with? I've talked to Brendan (of RPS in Elwood) and he seems sound, but thought I'd ask around, being new to the area n all.

Cheers

Moving from water starts onwards is about water time. The more time you spend down on the beach, the faster you progress. Winter is crap and gusty so don't worry if it seems like you're learning slowly. Just try get down as often as possible.

Very true as to what Saffer said. Just get out there! I only got up to water starts when the season finished earlier this year and i couldn't even really do that. I bought some gear and hit up the beach in the cold and now I'd say i'm relatively competent.

SHQ and kiterepublic do lessons at St Kilda. Kitepower have lessons around Pt. Henry near Geelong. You should only need a lesson or two to brush up on the basics. The rest is just practice!

Thanks for the responses. Guess I'd better buy some kit and get wet then!

I also spoke with Brendan, actually on friday just gone, Awesome bloke & had plenty of time for me which was ace

He put a good spin my way in that if i bought my gear from him he would teach me to use it, i'm thinkin fair enough

So head on back into RPS i say

You'll find a few places will do that in order to get your business. I think kiterepublic and kitesurf direct do something similar. The thing is your investing a fair bit of money into something you have'nt tried before?! Although every one that does kiteboard does seem obsessed
