Someone could give me some advice about how to trim the kite when unhooking? My problem comes from some DVD (may be it's old) where show first to completly depower the kite to have the 4 lines at the same lengh an then unhook...the problem is that doing this I loose all the power and speed and I stop!!
1st find the point where the kite starts to backstall when at 12 oclock and fully sheeted in. Then pull depower in until this stops happening. This is maximum unhooking power, pull more depower as needed (using combo of pigtails, depower strap)
Thank you for reply...but sorry I'm not english and I dont' understand when you say "when kite is fully sheeted in". I can'ty understand also the meaning of "oversheeted".
Over sheeted is to much power making the kite want to stall or fly backwards, when you unhook it has the same affect as pulling your bar all the way in. So if you have not enougth depower pulled on when you unhook your kite may become oversheeted.
All kites behave differently even between different sizes of kites some require no depower to be pulled on and some need a lot. Best bet is to start with a lot of depower on and keep powering it up a little each time.
Try to make unhooking all one smooth action, ride with good speed bear off down wind a little to help you unhook then load and pop.
There are some good videos on you tube showing the best way to do this, be patient with the kite nad when you hit the sweet spot you will know.
