i did the course this summer, its great! when i was over in england the shops were so much more willing to let me borrow demo gear when i told them i have my IKO qualifications (wat a fib, i dont have it until september ) and i cant wait to start working!
Hey Big eeZeee You should just do it you make the course fee back in the first 6 lessons you do after that its all cream less the cost of keeping your teaching gear up to date insurance and a few bits and pieces
Be careful with IKO instructors insurance. My local council would not accept it as it only provides professional liability (different from public liability) insurance, and only covers you when working for a business that already has public liability insurance.
I had to buy a $10 million public liability cover separately. (over $1200)
Add all that to IKO course ($850), council permits ($3000), teaching gear etc ($4000+), it gets expensive.
I thoroughly recommend the IKO course. Do it, you'll learn a lot. Then go work for a proper school. Do it all properly.
If you are going to operate under the radar, (no insurance or permits) still do the course but don't get caught teaching on the beach. The fines are huge.
